SOS Oral Submission – Draft Broadcasting Amendment Bill – 5 August 2008

Published On August 5, 2008 | By SOS Coordinator | Media / Press Release, News

SOS made its first oral submission to the Communications Portfolio Committee on the 5th of August 2008. In this submission, SOS included its own Draft Bill including all the issues that it had raised in its written submission submitted on the 25 July 2008. In its oral presentation, SOS argued that it was important that Parliament introduce a few further amendments looking at appointments as well as removals. In the long term SOS argued that it was important that the Department of Communications do a thorough review of all broadcasting policy and legislation and launch a Green Paper / White Paper process leading to new coherent, comprehensive legislation for the SABC.
