A draft proposal for the advancement of community radio and television sector was issued by the Department of Communication in June. The draft states the department’s intentions to support the community broadcast industry. Interested parties were given until 30 September 2015 to provide comment and submissions.

On 21 September 2015, the SOS Coalition held a multi-stakeholder workshop, principally made up of the community broadcasting sector to discuss and build consensus on the proposals made by the DoC. The SOS Coalition used the inputs and discussion points to formulate the following submission in response to the  proposed policy.
