Part of our lobbying tactics involves writing submissions, commissions research, engaging the media, organising public meetings and where appropriate pickets and protests in order to ensure that we deliver to our purpose.
HOW WE WORK
The Coalition adopts a “constructively critical” approach in the way in which we work, as our aim is to build good working relations with all the institutions with which we operate, while maintaining our independence.
In order to keep the members of the Coalition informed about campaign work, developments in the public broadcasting and related sectors, and relevant debates and discussions taking place within the Coalition, SOS uses two main engagement forums, the SOS Debate, which is an open forum and the SOS News which is a moderated forum. SOS DEBATE (OPEN FORUMS)
We engage our members through open forums. The aim of this forum is to provide a platform where members can air contentious views on points of debate and discussions within the Coalition. These sessions are not moderated sessions and members of the Coalition are free to make any contributions.
SOS NEWS (MODERATED FORUMS)
We also engage our members through forums that are moderated by a coordinator. The aim of this forum is to provide members with up to date information regarding the Coalition’s campaign activities, developments in the sector and a summary of the key areas of debate and discussion taking place on the SOS Debate list serve. Only the coordinator distributes material on this list serve, although all members are invited to provide material at any time for consideration, inclusion and distribution.
